Postdoc summary/title:–Research Associate
Applicants are invited to apply for a Research Associate position with the Translating Research in Elder Care (TREC) research program situated at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. TREC is a pan-Canadian and international longitudinal health services and knowledge translation program of applied research situated in long term care (LTC) homes. TREC maintains a cohort of 60-100 homes depending on phase and has a world-class database that has been running continuously for 17 years. Additional information about the TREC research program is available at the following URL: https//trecresearch.ca/. Reporting to the TREC Scientific Director, the Research Associate will design a process to test a system level indicator of care quality in LTC homes. Proof of concept work suggests the existing algorithm may be usable as a kind of system indicator to detect perturbations in quality in the health system. Using provincial RAI-MDS 2.0 data the Research Associate will first validate the algorithm in provincial data and the work with senior investigators and government to evaluate its utility on a going forward basis, i.e., in real time. If successful the indicator will point to system fluctuations that merit further investigation, earlier than would normally be possible.
