We are a team of passionate researchers and research support staff who make up the First Nations Cancer and Wellbeing Research (FNCWR) team. We work collaboratively with communities and the community-controlled health sector to deliver equitable health and wellbeing for First Nations peoples. Our team leads diverse, innovative research projects under the FNCWR Program, addressing a range of health challenges related to cancer and wellbeing. The FNCWR’s Wellbeing Group is focused on improving understanding, measurement, and evaluation of what matters to the wellbeing of First Nations adults, youth and children. The group is working on a number of projects around wellbeing, including three large mixed methods studies (What Matters 2Adults, What Matters 2Youth and What Matters 2Kids) that focus on different age groups in First Nations communities; as we understand that what matters to wellbeing changes across the life course. Our Wellbeing Group team is made up of First Nations and non-First Nations researchers and staff from around Australia. We are committed to privileging First Nations experiences and perspectives in our research, and to implementing research methods to ensure cultural-appropriateness and responsiveness. We are looking for a highly motivated research-focused early career academic to join our Wellbeing research team. The position will contribute to our existing research program and have capacity to pursue new research directions to advance First Nations people’s wellbeing across the life course. There are multiple opportunities for both qualitative and quantitative, as well as mixed method, research within our growing team and we welcome applications from candidates across a range of health disciplines relevant to our program.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to play a lead role in the study of phosphorus cycling that underpin sustainable agricultural production. This position will focus on understanding the fate of fertiliser phosphorus in the northern grain’s region of eastern Australia.  Further insight will be gained on assessing the crop recovery of fertiliser phosphorus, and how this can be improved via agronomic management.  Furthermore, the importance of crop phosphorus uptake from previous crop residues and applications of fertiliser in the soil (i.e., “legacy” phosphorus) will also be investigated. Using foundational and novel approaches, the project will deliver high-quality results that will lead to improved outcomes for primary producers. This project will result in an improved understanding of the phosphorus efficiency of major crops in the northern grains region, leading to increased food security and environmental outcomes. The research will combine field, controlled environment, and laboratory-based experiments. The project will involve a diversity of analytical approaches, including radioisotopes and wet chemistry techniques. This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work with leading artificial intelligence researchers in the field of multimodal learning and foundation models as part of the Australian Research Council (ARC) DP Project (DP230101753) 2023-2025, Short Sequence Representation Learning with Limited Supervision. Prof Xue Li is leading a research team together with Dr Sen Wang working on short video processing for event detections with multimodal data. The primary purpose of this position is to strengthen our research in multi-modal foundation models. The successful candidate will focus their efforts on developing their expertise and emerging research profile in their discipline. At this level, it is expected that the incumbent will contribute to service and engagement roles and activities.

In this position, you will focus your efforts on developing your expertise and emerging research profile working on a project using new AI approaches to develop wheat varieties resistant to rust diseases.  You will develop new algorithms that use AI to guide crossing designs that most rapidly stack resistant haplotypes into new resistant varieties. As a research-focused academic at level A, you will be supported and guided by more senior academic research staff with the expectation of an increasing degree of autonomy over time.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work with Professor Xiwang Zhang, Dow Chair Professor & Director of the UQ Dow Centre for Sustainable Engineering Innovation, on an ARC Linkage project with CSL Behring to design and fabricate high-performance chromatography membranes for protein separation and purification. The Research Fellow will undertake breakthrough and transformative innovations to develop the next generation of membrane technology for production of biologicals. Working in collaboration with internal and external interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders, he/she will take part in technology acceleration and implementation. Extensive interactions with Industries, Vendors, Universities, CRO, CMO/CDMO to ensure alignment of interests and projects are delivered on-time and on-budget. The position will have the opportunity to solve problems and present recommendations to the industry with an effort to drive new innovative solutions to shape the future direction of membrane technology for processing of biologicals. This project involves a series of interlinked tasks including membrane fabrication, module design and characterisation. This role will be involved in all facets of the project, from early stage prototype development through to scale-up, and undertaking experimental work both in the laboratory and in the field.

In this position, you will focus your efforts on developing your expertise and emerging research profile on developing new, DNA based approaches to select Indian cattle and buffalo for improved tropical milk production and sustainability. To undertake research in the area of microbiology and natural product chemistry, to find new animal health antiparasitics from Australian soil microbes, as part of a Marine Bioproducts Cooperative research centre (MBCRC) Project between The University of Queensland and the industry partner Boehringer Ingelheim.

The University of Queensland’s Food and Beverage Accelerator (FaBA) is a $160 million initiative aimed at boosting growth and innovation in the food and beverage manufacturing sector, with a goal of doubling the value of Australia’s food and beverage manufacturing sector by 2030. The initiative is funded by a $50 million Trailblazer grant from the Australian Government and $110 million from industry and innovation partners, including QUT and UniSQ, and will provide manufacturers access to research teams, pilot facilities, and state-of-the-art equipment. Investment will be distributed across Queensland, including in Toowoomba, Mackay, Cairns, and Brisbane.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to focus their efforts on developing their expertise and emerging research profile in the field of physical activity interventions for children and young people with cerebral palsy. At this level it is expected that the incumbent will contribute to service and engagement roles and activities at QCPRRC and CHRC. This position will lead aspects of a multi-site randomised controlled trial of a frame running training program for children and young people with cerebral palsy. This may include providing clinical supervision and support to allied health and technical staff, oversight of frame running training and assessment fidelity/quality, regular update and management of training and assessment procedures, tracking of trial progress to agreed milestones, and academic leadership of nested studies within the trial such as qualitative interviews and best responders.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to focus their efforts on developing their expertise and emerging research profile. The purpose of this position is to undertake research in the area of musculoskeletal health in children with cerebral palsy and is a collaborative position between the Musculoskeletal, Endocrine and Diabetes (MED-Kids) and the Queensland Cerebral Palsy and Rehabilitation Research Centre (QCPRRC). This position will work in a highly successful research team undertaking the Australian Cerebral Palsy Musculoskeletal Network MRFF clinical trial. Working with senior researchers and trial coordinators, this position will implement the design, research plan, techniques, methodologies, assessment, and reporting of outcomes and conduct of the Australian Cerebral Palsy Musculoskeletal Network MRFF clinical trial. This position will be responsible for high level liaison with internal and external stakeholders about the research undertaken, including Chief Investigators and Hospital Health Services.
