The Ohio State University’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health actively seeks a motivated and talented Postdoctoral Scholar to join our research team. Our methods apply quantitative and qualitative approaches to conduct:
• Secondary quantitative data analyses with Adolescent Brain and Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study, a national multisite consortium following over 11,000 youth prospectively throughout adolescence.
• Qualitative studies with local youth community samples.

This postdoctoral position encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities that contribute to the advancement of scientific research. This position will be divided in several duties such as:
1-Lab management (20%): ensuring that supplies are ordered, stocked, and evaluated regularly while maintaining
compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) regulations.
2-The role extends to graduate mentoring and training (20%), where the postdoctoral researcher will guide students
through experimental design, sample collection, and data analysis, fostering an environment of learning and discovery.
3-The position will also involve grant writing (30%) and the development of research projects, such as exploring the use
of mycorrhiza as a biological control against soybean cyst nematode, a significant agricultural pest.
4-The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to the scientific community by developing manuscripts (30%) for
publication in peer-reviewed journals, disseminating findings to a broader audience.

The post-doctoral research associate position is supported by the National Science Foundation funded project, ‘Trust but Verify: The Use of Intuition in Problem Solving’ (EEC-2325524). The project is led by a multi-institutional team that includes scholars from Bucknell University (Dr. Elif Miskioğlu) and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott (Dr. Kaela Martin). Specific supervision at Ohio State would be provided by project Co-PI, Dr. Adam Carberry.

 

The project’s primary goal is to examine the application of intuition by engineering practitioners to generate knowledge that promotes professional formation and development of a stronger engineering workforce using cognitive task analysis (CTA) to elicit expert knowledge. Candidates will be responsible for collaborating with the investigator team, conducting CTA research, writing manuscripts, presenting on and off campus, and mentoring undergraduate research assistants. An adaptable mentoring plan has been devised by the team to support the career and professional aspirations of the identified post-doc.

The Center for Tobacco Research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC) is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The fellow will work primarily with Dr. Alayna Tackett on research related to tobacco control and tobacco regulatory science. Projects may include human laboratory research focused on understanding the behavioral and health effects associated with use of synthetic cooling agents in tobacco/nicotine products, respiratory effects related to the use of e-cigarettes, and behavioral correlates associated with oral nicotine pouch use. Opportunities are available for interdisciplinary mentoring and training in other tobacco research areas, as our faculty expertise and institutional resources range from bench-top science to population-level policy and regulation. Training will be individualized for the fellow to develop competencies in tobacco research and specific skills and expertise tailored to the fellow’s research interests. In addition to individualized mentoring, the fellow will have opportunities to take part in seminars and workshops that will provide training in preparing research grant applications, tobacco-related research methods, advanced statistical techniques, and other areas.
The fellow will be part of an interdisciplinary research team and will gain experience leading experiments focused on human laboratory research, and conducting and overseeing data collection, including quality control monitoring procedures. The fellow will also gain experience in leading the preparation of abstracts for presentation at national conferences and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication using data from ongoing and recently completed studies supported by the National Institutes of Health and the Food and Drug Administration Center for Tobacco Products. The Peterman Lab at Ohio State University is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on a multiyear project supported by Pheasants Forever. The ultimate goal is to develop flexible tools to better target future conservation reserve program and other habitat investments in ways that maximize pheasant benefits; the proximate goal, and focus of the successful applicant, is to develop models upon which such tools can be based. This includes models that reliably estimate the effect of habitat variation at multiple spatial scales on local pheasant abundance, as well as models that accurately predict local pheasant abundance based on multi-scale habitat and other environmental covariates. Data to be modeled will be provided by part by partnering state wildlife agencies in North Dakota, Kansas, Wisconsin, and Ohio.

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Kiran Nakka in the department of Physiology and Cell Biology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. The lab of Dr. Rajgopal Govindarajan studies solute carrier drug transporters and their role in drug efficacy and toxicity as it relates to cancer, HIV, and certain human genetic disorders. The lab is currently seeking a motivated individual with experience in cell biology, biochemistry,  molecular biology, and/or pharmaceutical (analytical) techniques to work on an exciting project involving nucleoside drug transporters and their role in metabolism and cancer. Functioning independently, the Postdoctoral Scholar will design, organize, and conduct highly specialized and advanced experiments using established scientific protocols and procedures and, in some cases, designing new protocols; summarize findings and publish results in research journals; assume general responsibility for scientific operations of the laboratory; aid and guide junior technicians, students, and researchers.

We are seeking a Postdoc with strong bioinformatics / Statistical Genetics skills to join us. Our mission is to advance the understanding of the genetic architecture of complex human diseases and traits and to improve our ability to predict disease, target disease prevention in high-risk individuals, and tailor treatment based on individual genomic differences. The research specialist will work on large-scale genetic data analysis, risk prediction, single-cell RNAseq, and implementation of methods for studying complex human diseases, such as glaucoma and retinal diseases. The candidate will have the opportunity to take the lead on research projects, write manuscripts, and present the research results at international conferences.

Post Doctoral Scholar will work with Professor Scott Gaudi in the Department of Astronomy on the development and planning of several surveys enabled by NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope Galactic Bulge Time Domain Survey. The department has substantial institutional presence in the Roman Space Telescope, including significant participation in two Project Infrastructure Teams and two Wide Field Science Teams.  Duties will include finalizing the quenching analysis of the NGC 3109 satellite observed in MADCASH, analyzing satellite systems in LBT-SONG, preparing papers for publication and developing ideas for the dwarf galaxy project.

One-year appointment begins August 2024, with the possibility of renewal for one academic year based on positive performance.
