(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–Postdoc Fellow NatCap

This postdoctoral position will focus on assessing and valuing ecosystem services and integrating them into environmental-economic accounting. This work will contribute to the development, advancement, and translation of the concept of Gross Ecosystem Product (GEP) (e.g. https://doi.org /10.1007/s13280-023-01948-8).

This postdoctoral position is part of the Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation-funded strategic research collaboration and postdoc program between the Stockholm Resilience Centre (SRC), Stockholm University, and the Natural Capital Project (NatCap), Stanford University, “Advancing the research frontier of biosphere stewardship.” This program aims to generate high quality scientific outputs and understanding, accelerating science-based insights as guidance for transformations towards biosphere stewardship and a sustainable future. The collaboration between SRC and NatCap bridges the complementary scientific expertise, approaches, and networks of the two institutions to make sense of highly complex, ever shifting, and globally connected human-nature interactions, and how stewardship of our Anthropocene biosphere can be cultivated, ever more strengthened, and sustained.

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–Postdoc Fellow Finbio

The post-doctoral researcher position is part of the Mistra-funded research programme Finance to Revive Biodiversity (https://finbio.org/). FinBios overarching aim is to deliver research that can facilitate and speed up the consideration of biodiversity and nature-related risks as a key aspect of decision-making across the financial sector, from regulation to investment decisions.

This post-doctoral position focuses on identifying the channels through which biodiversity (nature-related) shocks are likely transmitted to the financial system.  The research will do this by analyzing the forestry and agricultural sectors of Sweden, using detailed company level data to map biodiversity dependencies, company size and international trade linkages. This analysis will produce an assessment of how firms are connected to hazards, each other, and trade.  While this work will be focused on Sweden, it aims to develop approaches and methods that are generally useful.

Deadline : 24 May 2024.

(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–Researcher in Theoretical Physics

The project aims to explore the quantum dynamics of many-body-quantum systems, and their thermodynamics in the quantum regime from a quantum information perspective. The research will focus on both theoretical and computational approaches to exploring the fundamental limits thermodynamics and quantum mechanics impose on the emergence of time periodic behaviors in many-body-quantum condensates, and the limits on achievable cooling in many-body-quantum systems. The project requires expertise in quantum measurement and control, quantum thermodynamics, as well as familiarity to the theory of quantum condensates.

Deadline : 9 May 2024.

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–Postdoctoral Fellow In Environmental Chemistry with an open research focus

To further broaden our research profile and strengthen our research environment, the Contaminant Chemistry Unit within the Department of Environmental Science is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow in Environmental Chemistry with an open research focus. We invite young scientists interested in a postdoctoral career development opportunity to submit proposals for a 2-year research project. The project should build on the existing strengths in the Department of Environmental Science while introducing new research questions or methods. The Contaminant Chemistry Unit currently consists of 6 research groups (MacLeod, McLachlan, Cousins, Posselt, Sobek, and Benskin). Our research programs examine the occurrence and behavior of pollutants in the environment and in the technosphere. Areas of particular interest include the discovery of new contaminants, understanding the physical, chemical, and biological pathways that contaminants follow, and the development of novel tools and techniques for sampling and analysis. We strive to synthesize our scientific understanding about the sources, transport, transformation, bioaccumulation and pharmacokinetics of environmental contaminants into mathematical models that inspire new scientific hypotheses, and support environmental decision-making.

Deadline : 2 June 2024.

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–Postdoctoral Fellow in Political Science with an orientation towards regulation of transnational companies

The postdoctoral postion will be part of the 4-year research project ”Corporate Accountability in Global Supply Chains? The Effectiveness of Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence Regulations”, funded by the Wallenberg Foundation. The project focuses on a new trend wherein mainly European states have adopted regulations building on a human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD) approach. These laws have often been portrayed as a groundbreaking opportunity to hold transnational companies responsible for different types of human rights and environmental problems that occur in production processes. However, there is little knowledge about the real prospects of such laws to effectively address corporate misconduct and provide victims with access to remedy.

The overarching aim of the project is to examine to what extent and under what circumstances HREDD regulations effectively contribute to enhance corporate accountability in global supply chains. The project focuses on the implementation and enforcement of four HREDD regulations that have entered into force to date: the French Duty of Vigilance law (2017); the German Supply Chain Act Due Diligence Law (2021); the Norwegian Transparency Act (2021); and the European Union Deforestation-Free Regulation (2023). The project is led by Maria-Therese Gustafsson at the Department of Political Science at Stockholms Universitet and Almut Schilling-Vacaflor at the Department of Business and Social Sciences at FAU University Erlangen-Nürnberg.

Deadline : 13 May 2024.
