Researcher 1 participates in planning, design, execution, and management of research projects in a foundational (basic) biological/health science research laboratory investigating gut-brain communication and host-microbe interaction in the Department of Neuroscience, Wexner medical center at the OSU ; participates in developing and implementing goals and objectives of studies; designs and executes complex laboratory experiments; performs advanced molecular and cellular analysis, confocal imaging, molecular cloning, bacterial genetic, zebrafish genetic (i.e. CRISPR, transgenesis) techniques; collects, analyzes and interprets research data; assists with development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques; tests experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods and make recommendations for utilization; assists in establishment of controls, criteria and research standards; performs critical analysis of literature relevant to research being undertaken; assists in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at national and conferences and workshops, and in the writing of project reports, articles and other documents; assists principal investigator in the preparation of proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding in support of research; coordinates laboratory activities and work assignments of postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and laboratory research staff; oversees and coordinates periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment; performs additional duties as assigned. A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Kiran Nakka in the department of Physiology and Cell Biology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Motivated candidates interested in pursuing “Inflammation-associated molecular regulation of muscle regeneration” are encouraged to apply. Candidates with background in biochemistry, molecular and cell biology are preferred. Our lab investigates the gene regulatory networks in muscle stem cells using cutting-edge high-throughput studies, single-cell technologies and proteomics. The lab of Dr. Rajgopal Govindarajan studies solute carrier drug transporters and their role in drug efficacy and toxicity as it relates to cancer, HIV, and certain human genetic disorders. The lab is currently seeking a motivated individual with experience in cell biology, biochemistry,  molecular biology, and/or pharmaceutical (analytical) techniques to work on an exciting project involving nucleoside drug transporters and their role in metabolism and cancer. Functioning independently, the Postdoctoral Scholar will design, organize, and conduct highly specialized and advanced experiments using established scientific protocols and procedures and, in some cases, designing new protocols; summarize findings and publish results in research journals; assume general responsibility for scientific operations of the laboratory; aid and guide junior technicians, students, and researchers.

Our laboratory is devoted to unraveling the complex interactions between immune cells and tumor cells, with a particular focus on elucidating the functional dynamics of CD8 T cells that demonstrate tumor-rejecting capabilities. Postdoctoral research associate to pursue specialized research training and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor in a research laboratory within the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at The Ohio State University; conducts NIH-funded research on investigating neural encoding and processing of electrical stimulation at both the peripheral and the central levels of the auditory system in adult and pediatric cochlear implant (CI) users under the guidance of a faculty mentor. The postdoctoral research associate will help with software development, data collection, analysis of results, and manuscript and grant application preparation. With further experience, the postdoctoral trainee may also contribute to the design of follow-up studies.

Post Doctoral Scholar to pursue specialized research training, education and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor in the Department of Pathology; plans, designs and executes experiments of considerable scope and complexity in the assigned research lab investigating the mechanisms underlying the molecular, cellular, and circuit mechanisms underlying cortical regulation of pain sensation in a physiological state as well as a pathological state induced by cancer and injury; performs advanced molecular biology and cellular techniques and procedures such as cell culture, viral production, tissue harvest, tissue sectioning and staining [immunofluorescence (confocal microscopy) and immunohistochemistry], microdissection, solution preparation and microscopy, and computerized image analysis; performs two-photon imaging and/or behavioral analysis with small animal surgery (mice); collects and analyzes data for research sponsored by appropriate agencies and Institutions; identifies and selects problems to be studied; develops and troubleshoots new experimental techniques and protocols; attends research seminars; contributes to manuscript preparation and supports technical writing; participates in preparation of grant applications for extramural funding; performs additional duties as assigned.

The primary responsibilities of the postdoctoral scholar will include:

• Lead role in their research project(s).
• Designing and conducting experiments, analyzing data, and writing/publishing manuscripts as the lead author.
• Presenting their results at the local and national/international meetings,
• Assisting PI with grant applications.
• Assisting with IRB and IACUC protocols.
• Supervising undergraduate and graduate researchers in the lab.

The College of Nursing at The Ohio State University invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Scholar position working with Dr. Michelle Failla. Dr. Failla’s research focuses on understanding the role of social communication in pain responses and management. The Failla lab is interested in studying pain in populations with differences in social communication, across the lifespan, from autism spectrum disorder to Alzheimer’s Disease. We work to understand how altered neural processing of pain may contribute to differences in expression or experience of pain. We use a variety of techniques such as psychophysics, neuroimaging, behavioral testing, and big-data approaches to investigate responses to physical pain.

The Postdoctoral Scholar will contribute to ongoing projects in Dr. Failla’s lab. Currently funded projects focus on autistic adults to characterize pain responses across adulthood using pain psychophysics and neuroimaging. The candidate will also be invited to design and implement new projects that are in line with both their own and Dr. Failla’s research interests.
