Postdoc  summary/title:– Two postdoc positions: Probing chemistry at atmospheric interfaces: aerosol research and surface spectroscopy

Aerosol particles play a central role in the formation of clouds. Particles are emitted from a variety of sources or formed in the atmosphere via photochemical reactions. During their atmospheric lifetime aerosol particles undergo “ageing”; chemical reactions and processes that change particle properties and their ability to act as nuclei for cloud formation.

The two postdocs will work in close collaboration to correlate findings on aerosol properties with the molecular structure of the surface of aerosols and water droplets under different conditions. Eventually, the aim will be to understand how particles and water molecules interact to form clouds. The experiments will be complemented with off-line chemical analysis and molecular modelling with collaborating groups in C3.

(08) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:– Postdoc in interdisciplinary studies of the historical development in European and Danish food, agriculture and landscape systems

The Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University, Denmark, is offering a postdoctoral position in Food, Agriculture and landscape systems research on the historical development of Danish and European Landscapes, starting 01-12-2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position will be available for a 3-year period.

This postdoctoral project will focus on conducting interdisciplinary historical research to address contemporary challenges within the European and Danish food and agriculture systems. Recent years have highlighted the urgent need for transformation in these systems to solve issues such as the nitrogen crisis, greenhouse gas emissions, animal welfare, pesticide use, lack of affordable healthy food, and the rising prevalence of obesity and other diet-related diseases.

The project thereby aims to bridge the gap between historical understanding and current efforts to transform the food and agriculture systems towards sustainability. While there has been significant academic and societal engagement in driving this transformation—through technological innovation, governance shifts, new regulations, and consumer behavior campaigns—there is a notable lack of historical context informing these approaches.

The project will be closely linked to the interdisciplinary www.sustainscapes.org Centre for Sustainable Landscapes under Global Change, funded until 2028 under the Novo Nordic Challenge program, and creates the opportunity to work closely with both Danish and International Peers, and a group of fellow young scientists. (18) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:– Post Doc in machine learning for biomedical time series and sleep, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Aarhus University

You will be part of an ongoing project on updating how sleep is monitored clinically. This is a time series classification problem with large societal value, and a particularly interesting open problem is how to implement semi- or unsupervised approaches, since data is cheap and labels are not.

We recently found a very promising approach to this problem, and believe that even within the relatively short duration of this position, good results can be achieved with many possible follow-up questions and impact-full publications.

The work will take place in the context of the Center for ear-EEG, which includes multiple projects on wearable sleep monitoring. As such, even though the project is entirely machine learning based, it is very much possible to have the work motivated and justified through the other projects in the center.
