(07) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc summary/title:– Postdoc of Materials Chemistry and X-ray total scattering
Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen is offering one or more postdoc positions (18-24 months) commencing 1 December 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The positions are within materials chemistry with a strong focus on the use of X-ray scattering methods for characterization of atomic structure, as well as understanding material synthesis pathways.
The first project will concern the use of ultrafast X-ray scattering at synchrotron and XFEL sources to follow atomic scale structural changes taking place during chemical synthesis of nanoparticles. We aim to perform ultrafast time resolved Pair Distribution Function experiments to study the formation mechanism of nanoparticles and elucidate how precursor clusters in solution dissociate and nucleate to form nanoparticles. The postdoc project also involves synthesis development with focus on photo-induced reactions.
The second project lies within size/structure relations and formation mechanisms for disordered oxide nanomaterials and high entropy materials for electrocatalysis. Here, the aim is to use synchrotron techniques including X-ray total scattering and X-ray spectroscopy to elucidate the formation pathways for materials using in situ synchrotron studies, as well as characterize their electrocatalytic properties through operando experiments.
The position is in the Nanostructure group at Department of Chemistry, led by Associate Professor Kirsten M. Ø. Jensen. The postdoc’s duties will include research within chemistry as well as teaching. The post may also include performance of other duties.
To be considered, applicants must have a PhD degree in experimental chemistry, nanoscience, physics, or a similar field with experience in material synthesis. Extensive experience in synchrotron, neutron or XFEL experiments is furthermore required, including experience in advanced modelling of scattering or spectroscopy data. Experience with especially total scattering and Pair Distribution Function analysis will be considered an advantage. The candidate should be able to conduct independent and creative research, demonstrate scientific productivity, and show good inter-personal and communication skills. The candidate will work within our international, cross-disciplinary group and will co-supervise students and other group members. The candidate must have excellent English communication skills, and the ability to write scientific papers at a high level.

(08) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc summary/title:– Postdoctoral position in History of Philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Copenhagen
The postdoc will contribute to the ERC-funded project “Women in the Nordic Enlightenment (WHENCE). Changing the narratives of early modern philosophy and uncovering women’s contribution to Scandinavian gender equality” led by PI Sabrina Ebbersmeyer. The core of this project is to bring to light and critically assess women’s intellectual contribution to the Nordic Enlightenment by examining a text corpus consisting of unpublished material and published texts written by more than a hundred women in Scandinavia. The guiding hypothesis is that the Nordic way of women’s Enlightenment significantly differs from developments prevalent in other regions of Europe, and that women played a decisive role in creating a sustainable identification of the Nordic countries with gender equality.
The expert on the “scholarly sphere and intellectual equality” will investigate writings reflecting on women’s intellectual capacities (including reason, talent, and understanding) and defending women’s intellectual equality. The expert will also explore the development of various arguments, the philosophical traditions on which these arguments rely, and the argumentative strategies women used to counter traditional views about women’s intellectual deficiency.

Postdoc summary/title:– Postdoc in Immunology at Department of Microbiology and Immunology (ISIM)
The Allergic Inflammation group at the Leo Foundation Skin Immunology Research Centre within ISIM is led by Jonathan Coquet. Our interests revolve around understanding the fundamentals of allergic inflammation. Core questions for our group include: What makes inflammatory allergic responses pathogenic? What are triggers for allergic inflammation? How do environmental and genetic factors combine to mediate allergy? To explore these questions, we utilise mouse models of allergy and infection and combine them with understanding allergic inflammation in human tissues. The team is diverse and participates in interdisciplinary work with national and international collaborators.

About The University of Copenhagen, Denmark – Official Website
The University of Copenhagen is a public research university in Copenhagen, Denmark. Founded in 1479, the University of Copenhagen is the second-oldest university in Scandinavia, and ranks as one of the top universities in the Nordic countries and Europe.
Its establishment sanctioned by Pope Sixtus IV, the University of Copenhagen was founded by Christian I of Denmark as a Catholic teaching institution with a predominantly theological focus. In 1537, it was re-established by King Christian III as part of the Lutheran Reformation. Up until the 18th century, the university was primarily concerned with educating clergymen. Through various reforms in the 18th and 19th century, the University of Copenhagen was transformed into a modern, secular university, with science and the humanities replacing theology as the main subjects studied and taught.
The University of Copenhagen consists of six different faculties, with teaching taking place in its four distinct campuses, all situated in Copenhagen. The university operates 36 different departments and 122 separate research centres in Copenhagen, as well as a number of museums and botanical gardens in and outside the Danish capital. The University of Copenhagen also owns and operates multiple research stations around Denmark, with two additional ones located in Greenland. Additionally, The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences and the public hospitals of the Capital and Zealand Region of Denmark constitute the conglomerate Copenhagen University Hospital.
