## What is Celsius scale ?

The Celsius scale, sometimes known as the centigrade scale, is a temperature scale based on water’s freezing point of 0°C and boiling point of 100°C.

• In 1742 A.D., Swedish astronomer Anders Celsius introduced the scale, which was also named after him.
• The sign for this scale is °C. The Celsius scale originally utilised 0°C for the boiling point of water and 100°C for the melting point of ice, but it was eventually inverted to its current form.

• However, a current Celsius scale based on the triple point of Vienna Standard Mean ocean water has been established, which has improved with the concept of absolute zero.
• According to this, the present Celsius scale is based on the triple point of water rather than the freezing and boiling points of water.
• After May 2019, the absolute zero temperature, or -273.15°C, will be indicated by 0K or -273.15°C.
• However, before that, the temperature of water’s triple point was precisely defined at 273.16 K or 0.01 °C.
• The average human body temperature is 37 degrees Celsius on the Celsius scale.

• In the Fahrenheit scale, absolute zero is -459.67° F.
• The Fahrenheit scale was the world’s first standardised temperature scale. Until the 1960s, it was common in most English-speaking countries.

5 x 48 = 240
240 / 9 = 26.7 C
So the temperature in Celsius is 26.7 C.
